The Lakes Region is part of the Belknap County. It's named for the numerous lakes in the region and consists of one of the largest is Lake Winnipesaukee. There is Lake Winnisquam, Squam Lake, and Newfound Lake.

Merrimack County has many National Historic Districts they consist of Bear Brook State Park Civilian Conservation Corps, Canterbury Shaker Village, Concord Civic District, and Downtown Concord Historic District.
